Faith and family
A kind introduction, from someone who knows you both
Mutually is invite-only: you’re introduced by a person who knows you both, and nothing about you is on display. It’s open to everyone, and it sits alongside values many Buddhists hold: kindness, honesty, and care in how we treat one another.
It begins with someone who knows you both
In many families shaped by Buddhist values, people have long met through those around them: a relative, a family friend, someone both sides trust. For many others, whether they grew up with their faith or came to it later, it’s a friend who says they know someone. Either way, it starts with a person who knows what each of you is like, and that’s more than a profile can tell. Mutually begins in the same place. There’s no list of people for anyone to look through. Three to ten people you choose describe your character in their own words, an introduction happens only if someone who knows you both is willing to suggest it, and from there it’s between the two of you, at your own pace.
Your circle describes you
Three to ten friends and family describe your character from a private link. No app, no account, and each chooses who may see their words.
Someone who knows you both
An introduction is only made when a person who knows you both is willing to suggest it. Most ideas stop there, and that’s the point.
Family and friends, as close as you’d like
For some people, parents and relatives are part of this from the start. For others, it’s friends who know them best. Both are at home here. Parents, siblings, cousins and close friends can all be in your circle, each describing who you are from a private link, and a parent can be a Connector if you invite them. The person you’re introduced to has been described in the same way by the people closest to them. In your conversation with us, you can say what part, if any, you’d like your family to play. The people you invite bring insight, never a veto. You always choose.
Privacy, modesty and consent
Discretion is a kindness to everyone involved. Nothing about you is on display and each answer is private: if an introduction doesn’t go ahead, it simply closes, and nobody is told who said what.
No public profile
No feed, no browsing, no directory. Nobody can look you up.
Photos stay inside an introduction
Photos are only ever seen inside an introduction, never on display.
Each answer is private
You each decide privately. Neither sees the other’s answer until it’s mutual.
One introduction at a time
Focus mode pauses new introductions while you get to know someone.
What Mutually is not
Mutually isn’t a Buddhist service, and it doesn’t replace the family and friends who already look out for you. It’s one more way for them to help. There’s nothing to browse, and no scores or ratings. It’s open to adults of every faith and none, on the same terms, and no Buddhist tradition, and no faith, is ranked or favoured over another. If your faith matters to you, it can matter here, privately.
What it costs
Free while we grow. Later, a simple membership for active Seekers, the people looking for an introduction. Connectors, and the family and friends who describe or vouch for someone, never pay. Nobody can pay to be seen.
Questions
No. Mutually is the same for people of every Buddhist tradition, and for people whose faith is a large part of daily life or a quiet one. Telling us anything about your faith is optional. If you do, it needs your consent, only Mutually sees it, and you can remove it any time.
As large a part as you’d like, and it can be family, friends or both. The people you choose join your circle and describe your character from a private link, with no app or account, and a parent can be a Connector if you invite them. Whoever is in your circle offers insight, never a veto: whether to go ahead with an introduction is always your decision.
The two of you do. Nothing goes ahead until each of you has said yes, privately. From there you choose how to meet, and Focus mode pauses new introductions while you get to know one person. How quickly things move, or how slowly, is yours to decide together.
Yes, on the same terms as everyone. Whether you’re divorced, widowed or raising children, and whether you grew up with your faith or came to it as an adult, the people in your circle describe who you are now. What you each hope for about children is among the first things we consider, and how much of your story to share, and when, is for you to decide.
No. There’s no public profile and nothing to browse, so nobody can look you up. The friends and family you invite to describe you will know you’re here, as will a Connector who suggests an introduction for you. Photos are only ever seen inside an introduction.

If this is how you’d hope to meet someone
Mutually is invite-only. Join the list and we’ll write when there’s room, and not before. The fastest way in is still a friend who’s already here.
